Taking Sides

Which side do you prefer to nurse on?

Personally, I prefer my Right Girl. For whatever reason, when I am nursing Anjali while galavanting around the house, this leaves my left hand free to do things like surfing the web, opening doors for cats, stirring cooking pots, answering phones, handling remote controls, sending text messages, turning pages on open books, and feeding ravenous toddlers. I also like nursing on my Right Girl while sleeping. I will even "schedule" nursing on my Left Girl to ensure that we will be ready for the Right Girl to pony up the nighttime nursing so that I can snooze for that 5am feeding. Because Sleep? She is Sacred.

However, I am a right handed. It seems sort of weird that I would prefer my left hand to be free while my Right Girl is busy. Odd.

When sitting on the floor with a baby in my lap I prefer Leftie (aka Dazzle)-- they seem to latch easier on that side. In bed in the middle of the night I prefer Rightie (aka Razzle). Go figure...

When I'm out in public, I prefer the left because it's "the easy boob". At home I like the right side because I usually nurse her in the football position for that side. Like you, if I know that I'll be nursing out in public, I will coordinate sides so that the left is nice and full. I'll nurse her on the right when we're out if necessary, but it's more of a challenge (maybe because I'm right handed?).

I totally prefer to nurse on my left side. I am right handed and nursing on my left allows me to surf while nursing. My left side also seems to have a bigger supply, but that may just be my perception and stark favoritism.

I also carry my kids (and my purse) on my left side. All to leave that important right hand free, I guess. It feels weird to carry either kid on my right hip.

I prefered my left because she just seemed to produce more and I'm right handed so it was easier for some reason.

I prefer my left and she is a much better producer than my right. I try to start with the right often to encourage more production on that side but it doesn't seem to make a difference.

I'm loving the image of you floating around the house with Anjali latched, but how do you do it? Andrew is already getting so big that my arm would be exhausted. Do you use a baby sling?
